Michael MacDonald
Managing Director, Head of Zions Capital Markets
Michael MacDonald is the Head of Zions Capital Markets and a member of the Executive Management Committee of Zions Bancorporation. With over 20 years of experience in banking and capital markets, Michael is responsible for overseeing the firm's investment banking and capital markets activities, including Debt Capital Markets, Investment Banking, Real Estate Capital Markets, Power & Project Finance, and Sales & Trading. Additionally, he serves as the Chairman and President of Zions Direct, Inc., the broker-dealer subsidiary of Zions Bancorporation.
Prior to joining Zions in 2016, Michael was Managing Director and Head of Power & Project Finance at CIT, where he managed teams of industry specialists in Los Angeles and New York. He joined CIT via its acquisition of OneWest Bank, where he served as Executive Vice President and successfully launched and scaled the bank's Power & Project Finance business unit.
Earlier in his career, Michael held key roles in project finance originations at MUFG / Union Bank in Los Angeles and in investment banking at Wachovia Securities in Charlotte. He holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Business from Wake Forest University.
